This is a macro timelapse video created by Nick Lariontsev of mold growing in a petri dish. It really was pretty mesmerizing to watch. So the next time you hear anybody complain that something is about as much fun as watching grass grow, you can tell them you've spent five minutes watching mold grow, and you wouldn't trade it for the world. Jk jk, you can be honest.

    can anyone explain the insects (?) at about 3:21? I know mold doesn't spontaneously create independent life forms, so something different is going on in this shot.
