I Need One: Cleaning With A Powerful Burning Laser

January 7, 2015

This is a video of one of Laser Age's 500-watt scrubbing lasers blasting the grime off a baking sheet. Typically I just use dish soap and some elbow grease, but that's only because I don't have a powerful burning laser to do the job for me. Oh who am I kidding, I don't clean baking pans, I just put them back in the cabinet as-is. What do you think that laser would feel like on your hand? I bet it would feel AWESOME. Or maybe it wouldn't feel like anything at all, I don't know, I don't understand how lasers work. Did you know LASER is actually an acronym for Light Amplification by the Stimulated Emission of Radiation? That still doesn't help me understand them at all.

Keep going for the video.

Thanks to Doctor Joe, who cleans baking sheets the easy way: throwing them away and getting new ones.

Sooooooo........... is the ground underneath this thing just a whole bunch of charred circles?

  • Richard H Sanford

lol, but I would guess that the laser's effectiveness changes at a certain distance in both directions, so I would have to be at a specific distance to be effective.

  • Tim Ryder

Correct, nearly all powerful burning lasers have a focal point which is shaped like an hour glass. The center waist where the upper and lower come together the closest is where the energy is concentrated most. The remaining light is just lost as heat or radiation. this is a small single point which is being swept across side to side very quickly with high intensity.

This is much cooler and using scouring powder I could use one for my stove. :D

  • Need this for cleaning my bong! Bet it works like a charm on glass

  • ODwanKenObi

but you have to use some fancy mirrors to get the laser inside the bong doe.
