Visualization Of The Daily Routines Of Famous Creatives

January 7, 2015

Note: Interactive version of the chart HERE which tells you exactly what each person was doing in each block.

This is a chart of the typical daily routines of a bunch of famous creatives (mostly writers, musicians and artists) who did more with their lives than you or I ever will. Or at least me, because I am what my parents like to call "lazy" and "unmotivated." I'm sure there's something to gain by studying it, but all I really learned is that exercise is overrated and I should probably cancel my gym membership. Did you know Gold's Gym invented New Year's Resolutions? That's a fact.

Thanks to Dougie, who agrees everyone should set aside at least 15-minutes a day to sit on the crapper at work and read Geekologie on their smartphone.

  • S.M. Archer

Charles Bukowski: Booze, Booze, Booze, Sleep, Booze, Booze, Booze, Drugs, Drugs, Booze, Write, Sleep.

  • Well, Kafka's sleeping patterns certainly explain a lot

  • kevin

They should have just told the truth and labeled food/leisure, other, and probably even exercise as "drinking alcohol."

  • shashi

"...Gold's Gym invented New Year's Resolutions..."

  • Conor Ghame

    Y no riff raff?

  • Royalblueduck

    No da Vinci?

  • Fercho

Am I the only one who sees Elvis' side face on the graph?

  • cardstock

Looking at their sleep patterns, apparently the idea that you need 8 hours of sleep was made up by the government to keep us sedentary. I mean, just look at the melting point of steel and it all makes sense.

  • disqus_k2QxOV9H7Z

On the other hand they are artists. Not the best model for physical and mental health.

  • Closet Nerd

    How about Hunter S. Thompson?
drugs, drugs, drugs, drugs, drugs, drugs, sleep, drugs, drugs

  • GeneralDisorder

Somehwere between the u and the g in the third or fourth drugs on the list there's a tiny carrot and a note above written in the tiniest of handwriting that says "oh yeah, I guess writing too".
