OVER THE LINE: Man Denied Bowling Strike By Pin That Stands Back Up

December 16, 2014

This is a video from the 2014 World Bowling Men's Championship in Abu Dhabi in which Team USA's Bill O'Neill thinks he bowls a strike, but one of the pens flips and bounces itself back upright. Bill then had to bowl for a spare, which he got. Later, I assume he was kicked off the team for being the unluckiest person in the world.

Keep going for a video of the Big Lebowski's worst nightmare in action.

Thanks to Steven M, who still rolls the ball between his legs because that's what works for him.

Wow i didnt realise how much i care about bowling. Not enough to play, watch or even follow it regularly but i really love that funny movie about bowling, you know the one. With the funny guys and the girl and all the crazy things happen... Kingpin http://youtu.be/iB9Nz5JEKxo

This is bullshit. That would be like denying a goal in soccer if the ball rolls out the goal after going in.

    they don't? they should :P

  • captaindash

I don't know bowling. Is the goal to knock the pins down, or to have the pins knocked down. Big difference. In soccer I'm assuming a goal counts even if the keeper catches the ball and it's 2" past the goal line.

  • AdvancePlays

Exactly, if he caught it 2" past the line and quickly threw it out again it would still be a goal - this was knocked over for 2 seconds, so it should still be a strike.

Your foot was over the line Smokey, mark it zero. This isn't nam, there are rules.

  • Bad Habit

How do you know? You never see his feet in the video!

  • shashi

  • Clampity

Has the whole world gone crazy!!! Am I the only one who cares about the rules!!!!

  • Bad Habit

You should probably care more about your horrible eyesight.

The rareness of the unluckiest bowling strike is so unique makes it the luckiest ever. Anyone can hit a strike given enough practice, but try repeating this again!

That's so Yukko of you to say (sorry about the audio, couldn't find a better clip): https://www.youtube.com/wat...

  • Fredrik Pettersen

Why the editor decided to leave out reactions from the contestants is beyond me.

  • ODwanKenObi

    Obviously you're not a golfer.

  • ^This guy gets it.
