Mysterious Ice Pancakes Floating Down Scottish River

December 19, 2014

These are the ice pancakes recently spotted in the River Dee near Lummels Pool, Birse. Experts suggest the pancakes were formed when pieces of foam froze in swirling eddies, then continued to grow as unfrozen pieces of foam stuck to the ice, and later froze as temperatures dropped during at night. Me? I suspect they're just leftovers from the river god's brunch. Remember: the simplest answer is often the right one.

Keep going for a couple more shots, then pass the maple syrup and let's have an eating contest.

Thanks to E V I L A R E S, who is so evil he dumps waffles in lakes and makes all the ducks fat.
