Lil' Tortoise Gets A LEGO Wheelchair While His Legs Heal

December 9, 2014

Note: It might not look like a chair, but that's because you're not a turtle.

Meet Blade. Blade is a little tortoise with a growth condition that weakened his legs and made it difficult to move. So Blade's caretaker took him to vet Carsten Plischke, who fixed him up with a little improvised LEGO wheelchair rig so he can scoot around while his legs grow stronger (previously: this turtle who got a single LEGO wheel for an amputated leg). Thankfully, Blade is expected to make a full recovery, which is a relief, because I really didn't feel like crying today.

Keep going for a couple more shots.

Thanks to Geoff, who built his pet turtle a rocketpack. His turtle lives on the moon now.

"That's how I roll!!" or similarly "Trying to catch me ridin' dirty!" - I felt like this post needed some over played quotes. You're welcome.

This isn't what Blade was expecting when he heard that they were going to add some mechanical parts to him. Maybe in future you will be a cyborg with a real blade but for now lego wheels will do.

So cool! I have the same breed of tortoise myself, I'd definitely do the same.

  • This wins EVERYTHING today.
