Giant Circular Rocket Set Off During Thai Rocket Festival

December 30, 2014

This is a video from Thailand of a giant circular rocket taking to the skies as part of a rocket festival. For scale, you can see a couple people to the lower left of the rocket. My God I wish I could have been a part of that festival. You think the rocket's powerful enough to carry a 210-lb payload? I only ask because I've been looking for a cheap ticket to the sun.

Keep going for the video.

Thanks to RD, who agrees all the best rockets are homemade.

Here's their DIY fab vid, ram press carbon and KNO3. Also, lots of launch failFUCKN RUN AWAY! And large-motor nonspin versions

  • shashi

i would shout 'ALL ABOARD' before each launch
"Isnt that why your ex left you?"
NO! its because i kept shouting 'Thar she blows' during her clarinet recitals

Still better than North Korea's space program...

  • I like to think God made tiny little versions of these things and used them to weave my DNA strands together.

You should give up on the idea that your god is cool in anyway. He mostly wants you to screw up so he can blame you when he sends you to hell for eternal torture for His amusement.

  • xolifer

GW, I will give you a piggy back ride to the sun. Saddle up partner.

  • choo choo full steam ahead!

    I'm ready when you are

  • xolifer

Yay. I will get my space chaps.

  • choo choo full steam ahead!

That's a pretty big rocket to be just in some ramshackle field on top of what looks like kindling , lit by sticks. Their idea of fire safety is pretty lulzy.

Thai fireworks fest 2013. Search Boon Bung Fai or Bun Bung Fai, bamboo rockets, the LONGER VID has lots of impressive fails. บั้งไฟใหญ่ที่สุดในประเทศไทย.

haha seriously, and don't forget Mr. Balls O Steele who stands there a few extra seconds after ignition to give it a spin.
