Disgruntled Employee: Wal-Mart Apologizes For Labeling Plus-Size Costumes 'Fat Girl Costumes' On Website

October 29, 2014

Wal-Mart has publicly apologized after online shoppers discovered that plus-size Halloween costumes were all grouped within a 'Fat Girl Costumes' section of their website. Clearly somebody in their web commerce division skipped their mandatory political correctness seminar. Or maybe someone was recently angered that a big beautiful woman turned them down and decided to lash out. Oooooor maybe Wal-Mart is just a giant insensitive jerk at heart and doesn't really care about their number one demographic. "It's not like those fat idiots in Mississippi can even use computers!" I imagine an executive saying before lighting a cigar with a handful of $100 bills.

Thanks to Allyson, who is a firm believer in not buying your Halloween costume on Wal-Mart's website.

    she prefer Super Sized?

When I saw an enormous woman in Walmart pushing two entire trolleys overflowing with enough junk food, frozen ready meals, chips and coke to last a normal person half a year or more I didn't think 'Wow, that sure is a plus size woman'...

  • supr squirrel

Considering the average female who is more than five pounds overweight considers themselves fat and most will even tell you they are fat I don't see the problem here.

To be fair, at Walmart the Fat Girl/Guy sizes don't really start until you hit XXXXXL. People looking for L and XL clothes need to look in the Walmart Petites section.

  • Bubbubsky

Well, at least they don't have the Totenkopf of the SS emblazoned on shirts again.

  • asdfasdf

I wish I had accidentally bought one, its funny but it wasn't an appealing design

In all fairness, "fat girls" are what most "fat girls" refer to themselves as. I know this because I am one.

I would honestly be fine if Walmart actually labelled stuff as "Fat guy shirts" and the like.

  • Beanhimself

I hear they are giving out a free snickers bar to anyone that was offended.

  • Jenness

It's Walmart, I kind of thought that is what they named all the departments. "Fat Dude Shoes" "Hosebeast Towels" "8,000 Calorie Frozen Meals" etcetera etcetera *blood clot*

I'm more interested in why the Lava Diva costume only got 1 star.

  • Ollie Williams

I looked it up on their website. They literally gave it one star because a mother bought it for her fatass daughter and it didn't fit. Hilarious.

'Do not understand why they list it as a Plus size. My small daughter who is 6 could not even get it on. Dont order it if you are plus size. Or normal size for that matter. You should probably be a size 2. Also it is falling apart and we only tried it on.'

It is listed as 13 and up and attempting to put it on her literally destroyed it? I'm not usually in the habit of wanting to see 6 year olds getting dressed but that would be one hell of a hilarious video. I'm picturing a hippo in a tutu...

  • Andrew Newton

Probably the one woman who complained and caused the apology.
