Mom Creates Android App That Bricks A Kid's Phone Until They Call You Back

August 19, 2014

Sorry for missing you yesterday, I had to deal with some stuff. But you can rest assured international security was involved, and now you live in a much, much safer world. Mother Sharon Standifird was tired of texting and calling her children just to be ignored. So what did she do? Invented an android app that allows her to remotely brick their phones until they call her back. Mom, please, I'm on a date. You can tell me all about your trip to the grocery store later, just give me the password.

So after months of design and working with developers, "Ignore No more" was born.

With one tap, a list of only parent-selected contacts come up. The child can call, get the password and unlock the phone.

"Bradley needs to call me because I'm the person that has the unlock password," Standifird said.

"It takes away texting, it takes away the gaming, it takes away calling their friends. The child will always be able to call 911," said Standifird.

Whew, you can still call 911 -- that's a relief. And I suspect at least a 400% increase in 911 calls from children complaining their parents are being unfair. Hello, 911? She bricked my phone again. She's so mean sometimes. I'm just hanging out with my friends! Hello? What do you mean, "For real emergencies only?" Listen, are you going to send an officer to talk to her or not?

Thanks to Thaylor H, who agrees you should always call your parents back immediately before the drugs and alcohol have time to take effect.

    I am actually
delighted to read this post that carries countless of helpful information,
    home security

  • zin

The first step toward independence from "smart"phones. This will unleash a wave of kids that go back to ye olde carrier pigeons to send yolo's.

  • Bronx DeMeo/Menella

As long as I'm paying for the phone, I expect my kids to answer my calls. They don't like it, pay for your own phone!

  • MustacheHam

This is the sort of thing that encourages hacking.

  • Yokona Tehashi

At least until the kids uninstall the app, or, if the program resists that, they root the phone and freeze the app. (because they are probably more savvy than their parents)

  • David Gabel

Whether they are more tech savvy than their parents is debatable, as the majority just use iPhones as status symbols and don't know what Jailbreaking or Rooting is, what ROMs are, etc. As with the adults, there will be a few thatwill have some brains and be able to use them, but the rest will continue the trend of the tech illiterate average consumer.

  • dougfunnay

    oh hells yeah
    ROMs and jailbreaking

    hiiiiiigh tech!

i feel like im in the future or something
(anyway any retard can copy what they see posted in a youtube video)

  • David Gabel

It's "high tech" for the average consumer that has no idea what an operating system is or the difference between a Mac running OSX or a PC running Windows.

  • That top image is not girls looking at a phone bricking app. That's a dick pic.

  • zin

They're laughing at how stupid dicks look in general, right?

  • GirlFromSpace

Dick pics are pretty dumb. I haven't received one that I actually liked.

  • Fishconsin

Things your mother didn't say for $500, Alex.

  • zin

Neither have I, rugly, neither have I.

  • disqus_k2QxOV9H7Z

How does it prevent them from uninstalling the app?

  • Christopher Roy

Keep them locked in the basement like the brutal dictator you are.

  • disqus_k2QxOV9H7Z

Why? I just asked because this app seems pretty stupid if it allows the user to uninstall it.

Like how kids manage to bypass internet filters and all for this one all it would take is to unintall it as soon as they leave home.

  • GirlFromSpace

I mean really, you have a solid point.

  • Bailey Olfert

If the parent is paying for the phone, it is totally okay.

  • dougfunnay

nah shes a total bitch on a power trip
who is probably going to raise some farked up kids that are highly successful but desperately unhappy and disliked for their cold blooded control freaky ways

wonder why the kid doesnt want to deal with her

  • Prosy

Not really... all this is really is that "if mom calls, answer the fucking phone." Maybe in this mom's case she's a control freak... but no kids these days answer their phones.
