500HP Electric Sportscar With Shelby Chassis Does 0 - 60MPH in 3.4 Seconds, Available Next Year

August 20, 2014

This is the Renovo Coupe, a 500HP electric sports car with a Shelby American chassis (based on the 1964 - 65 Shelby Daytona Coupe) and 1,000 ft-pounds of torque that can rocket you from 0 - 60MPH in 3.4 seconds. For reference, it takes my car almost a minute and a half to get up to 55MPH, at which point it feels like it's going to shake itself apart and explode. Still, all the ladies love it. "What is it?" A flower delivery van.

Keep going for several more shots and a video. If you're interested in buying one, buy me one too.

Thanks to Mark B, who told me he had a viper and I was like, "Whoa, the poisonous snake?!" and he was all, "No, the Dodge sports car," and that's when I got a lot less interested.

Rimac Concept One can eat this for luck.

I guess Rimac needs all the luck he can get.

    Rimac has twice the power.

Okay after the initial automotive geekness overload, i think this may be a bit too good to be true.

For starter I have a feeling that the 30 minutes quick charge will be spent in 10 minutes.
Why/how THE FUCK is the the driver shifting?
If it's an american legacy why is it totally aimed at the rich exclusive by putting a limit on production number instead of being the new mustang?
Speaking of which, they took a classic body for new technology... a body which has holes on the hood for air intake. YOU DON'T NEED AIR.

Price tag nearing $600k... I hope this is going to be a fucking flop.

This car has very little going for it although I must admit I like that they've finally built an electric superkit. I would have gone with the AC Cobra without the top myself but I'm a sucker for topless things (men, women, cars).

The price, the electric powertrain, and low production almost guarantee that this project is already a dismal failure. And if you're spending $600K you can almost buy an SSC Ultimate Aero. You're at a price range where you could buy the best available Ferrari, or the best available Lamborghini, a used Gumpert, a used SSC thing, two McLaren MP4-12c, pretty much two of every high end sports car or low end hypercar. And there's a few supercars that fit into that price slot as well.

And roughly all of those will easily hit 60 in around 3 to 4 seconds and I'm fairly certain none of them top out at 120.
