5-Foot Japanese Giant Salamander Goes For A Stroll

July 8, 2014

This is a shot of the Japanese Giant Salamander (Ōsanshōuo) that was spotted going for a stroll on the bank of the Kamogawa River in Kyoto. The Japanese Giant Salamander is believed to be the basis of the kappa, a mythical species that looks like a cross between a salamander and a child. For reference, I would not want to stumble across any humanoid salamanders while I'm out catching frogs by the pond. Unless they can grant wishes, in which case I would trap one in a cage fashioned from bamboo and make it do my bidding. The fairy tale will all end very badly, probably with me being swallowed by a giant fish for being greedy. Are you writing all this down, Disney? Brb, I'm gonna go brainstorm on the shitter until lunch.

Keep going for a shot of two cops admiring the animal's beauty, as well as a short video of the salamander struttin' that azz.

Thanks to Lizzy and Chadtheman, who agrees tadpoles are the original Pokemon.
