Sludge!: What You Get When You Boil A Bottle Of Coke

June 4, 2014

My God that looks delicious.

This is a video of CrazyRussianHacker (of how to open a tuna can with no can opener fame) boiling a bottle of Coke to see what happens. SPOILER: You're left with a sludge of black, burnt sugar. And you know what burnt sugar reminds me of? S'mores. Love those things. I used to make them in the microwave every day as an after-school snack when I was in high school. "It shows." What do you mean? "Your belly." Oh what, are we gut-shaming now? You should really take a good hard look at yourself in the mirror. "What for?" Self reflection. "Seriously?" Yes, plus there's a monster booger on your cheek.

Keep going for the video.

Thanks to HawaiianShirt and Tim H, who agree the best sugary sludge is left over from boiling red cream soda. Heck yeah it is! Now let's run around the block until our hearts pop.

  • Andrew Newton

thanks, only normal folks here on Geekologie. Glad it was clarified cause I couldn't imagine alot of people getting a spiderman reference round these parts.

  • dougfunnay

i think his point was the world has gone absolutely bonkers
and most people are living in some kind of bizarro version of reality where lunacy is the daily norm

  • asdfasdfasdf

    it looks like food

  • GreyMatter

Like squid ink pasta?...I bet the BBQ Pitmasters could turn it into a glaze

  • Forblat

Just measure out an equivalent amount of sugar and water and boil that until it turns black instead. Same result for cheaper.

  • baal

Evaporated instead of boiled would have been more interesting. He caramelized the sugar.

my first thoughts were "its burnt" and "......i want to try eating that"
coke syrup looks nothing like that

  • Richelle Howes

    That's fugging disgusting :(

  • Andrew Newton

why? It's caramelized sugar that's taken a step further to being burnt.

  • Richelle Howes

The fact that there's THAT much sugar in ONE soda.

  • Andrew Newton

yeah, something like 39 grams in a 12oz bottle

  • Richelle Howes

And that's why I don't drink soda anymore XD
