New Long Nosed 'Pinnochio' Tyrannosaur Discovered

May 7, 2014

A new horny-snouted and slightly smaller cousin of the t-rex has recently been discovered in China (long dead, sadly) and I'm confident at least one blogger has a boner about it. That blogger is not me though, because I'm currently in a committed relationship with a stegosaurus. "And you're convinced there are other dino-loving bloggers out there?" PEOPLE HAVE REACHED OUT TO ME.

Pinocchio" looked very different to other tyrannosaurs.

"It had the familiar toothy grin of T. rex, but its snout was long and slender, with a row of horns on top," said Edinburgh's Dr Steve Brusatte.

"It might have looked a little comical, but it would have been as deadly as any other tyrannosaur, and maybe even a little faster and stealthier.

"We thought it needed a nickname, and the long snout made us think of Pinocchio's long nose."

I like how in the artist's rendition all the dinos look like they just ran one of those 5k color runs where they douse you with those rainbow powders. You ever done one of those? I did one of those. Or at least I was going to until I spotted a Dunkin' Donuts the morning of the race. I did show up at the finish line for a beer though.

Thanks to kirikou, TyrannosaurusAndy and my pal D.j, who agrees we can never have too many dinosaurs to clone.
