Chicken Wearing Prosthetic Tail Walks Like A Dinosaur

February 7, 2014

This is an animated gif of a chicken wearing a prosthetic tail to counterbalance its weight and make it walk like a dinosaur. It was part of the research conducted by Bruno Grossi of the Universidad de Chile for a recently published paper, appropriately titled, "Walking Like Dinosaurs: Chickens with Artificial Tails Provide Clues about Non-Avian Theropod Locomotion." Sounds like a fascinating read. One time I tried to dinosaur walk to the refrigerator and back clenching a broomstick between my butt cheeks. "Did you make it?" After a couple weeks of practice I did! I wish you could have seen it. "Me too." Awwww, you mean it? "I'd rather be buried alive." Than watch me dinosaur to the fridge and back?! You're f***ed up.

Thanks to Mark C. and Travis F., who strut their asses all day long and look good doing it.

Open the door and get on the floor!
Is it sad that I remember that song from a school talent show? It involved fluorescent clothing *hangs head in shame*

Now do this with a Cassowary.

But how do we know what the dinosaurs walked like? :s

If it looks like a duck and has all the same parts as a duck and came from a duck then it probably walked like a duck. The laws of physics haven't changed since the dinosaurs walked the Earth. A model of one (the chicken in this case) would still be affected by gravity in the same ways.
