Biometric Gun Box For Safe, Quick Access To Firearm

February 6, 2014

This is the $279 Gun Box, a biometric gun safe that opens via a fingerprint scan or sensing your RFID tagged bracelet or ring in close proximity. It was designed so you don't have to keep your gun under your mattress where your kids can find it and shoot each other, or locked in a safe that will be too difficult to access in an emergency. The box is made to rest on a bedside table or desk, and even has two USB ports to charge your phone and vibrator. But that's not all! The box is also GPS enabled and can notify you via smartphone if it is touched, tampered with, or moved. Technology, ladies and gentlemen. Just make sure your kids don't watch the tutorial on how to open the box manually in 20 seconds using nothing but an Allen wrench. Any gun aficionados wanna weigh in on this? Seems like a good idea to me, but the only thing I know about firearms is if I owned one I'd either be dead or serving a sentence right now.

Keep going for a video about the box.

Thanks to my sister-in-law Jenn, who's married to both my favorite and least favorite brother (because he's my only brother). Love you, Frank!

Gun safes are ideal for home protection safety. It's far better to spend a bit more to protect your family from themselves, than to worry. Hand sensor safes are quite secure.

Hornady just came out with a similar safe but it doesn't have biometric.

Biometric safes are nothing new. This may be the first one to open with an RFID ring or bracelet, which is a good idea except unless you're not wearing it when your or your family's life depends on it.

I'll take a good-old-fashioned punch combo or key lock, thanks.

whats your oppinion about a ref implant? I've seen those before

  • How many hands can be programmed into it?

What if I try to open it with my off hand?

What if my girlfriend needs to open it?

What if I have a cut on my hand?

I'm not really a fan of biometrics, so I probably wouldn't use it.

I guess it's as save as the biometric lock on the iphone 5s lol

I'm sensing a lack of respect...or a lot of it. It could go either way really.

Imagine the fury of gun-owners if they ever introduce IQ-metric gun boxes that require you to answer a reasonably difficult skill-testing question before it opens.

  • "Honey, wake up, I heard a window break, there's someone in the house."
"OK, I'll get the gun out. Wait, what's the capital of Uzbekistan?"
"Hurry up, he's coming up the stairs!"
    "I can't get it open!"

Yeah, I'd be upset if I had to play Jeopardy before I could access my firearms.

  • wtf

with a sturdy enough box you could just brain the guy with it. Gordian knot that puzzle yo. Lateral thinking bitch! respect.

  • FearlessFarris

You appear to have some unresolved issues with impotent aggression, and a perverse disposition toward provoking others. I'm really glad you don't own a firearm.
