First Time On Film: Deep Sea Squid Killing A Fish

January 14, 2014

Allegedly this is the first time a deep-sea squid has been filmed attacking a fish (and using its beak to drill into the fish's spinal cord -- BRUTAL). I have no idea if that's true or not because 1. I'm not a marine biologist and 2. I didn't Google it. Allegedly it is though, at least according to scientists at the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute. I assume they know their stuff. But who knows, maybe they know less about what goes on in the oceans than the waitstaff at a B-grade seafood restaurant. I'm sorry, but I ordered the salmon. "That is the salmon." No, this is a crab.

Keep going for the video.

Thanks to me, for being that fish. And the squid? That's life, just drilling its way into my spinal cord to suck out all the juices.

    Squids are dicks.

    Calamari's gotta eat.

  • MustacheHam

This is an interesting video of a squid eating a fish's face.

  • DrZanz

Surprised at the lack of blood if it is indeed using the beak. looks more like it's keeping the gills closed.

Real life creatures aren't blood bags that spill blood everywhere by any perforation. ...except mosquitoes and leeches.

  • DrZanz

Ever foul hooked a fish that big? Trust me, they bleed, and a hook is not a squid beak. Could be sucking it all away I guess but I don't know how squids work. Just LOOKS more like it's keeping the gills closed than boring a hole into it that's all I'm saying.

The first thing that comes to mind is Garth Algar saying "Make it stop, it's sucking my will to live!"
