Oh Right, Japan: Little Underwear For Your Smartphone

December 5, 2013

Press the bulge.

Apparently these little rubber underwears from Bandai are all the rage for smartphone owners in Japan because Japan is Japan and I'm tired of trying to understand. They come in a variety of styles and are sold randomly in plastic capsule machines for 200 yen ($2). Didn't get the pair you want? Try again! Still didn't? Now would be a good time to reevaluate just how important having a particular pair of rubber underwear for your smartphone is to you.

Keep going for a shot of a dispenser a bunch of the different styles, and some wack-ass commercial.

Thanks to Alleycat, who needs to stop meowing outside my window at night when I'm trying to go to sleep.

I have seen those thing for sale online for months on chinese gadgets sites... So they all were imitation of banadai's?

These would actually be kind of useful for keeping your charging port free from dust and damp. Guessing that is a secondary purpose in this case though...

I don't think the woman in that commercial knows what's happening either...

  • So wait, as a guy, do I want the girls underwear on my phone? Or the guys? The girls would be weird, girly, and unquestionably pervy, but on the other hand I'm not touching that bulge.

I guess I'll just go with my gut on this one: None of any of this ever.

I'd definitely get a bra one, though....

Still weird, and could be a problem viewing the screen, but c'mon, BEWBS!!

  • I do like the pantomime self karate chops to the neck though. Really sold the whole android thing.
