This is 'All In One', an extravagant 12-course meal in a can created by designer Christopher Godfrey to make some sort of statement about contemporary culture and the use of gimmicks to sell products. Dammit, why's it have to make some sort of social commentary, why can't it just be f***ing yummy?

Contemporary culture means on every trip into town; you're bombarded with gimmicks galore. Gimmicks often diminish their products to turn a profit; downgrading on the content but selling you something thats '50% more'. The All in One 12 course meal offers the average Joe; the chance to dine like royalty without the washing up.

Yeah yeah yeah, enough jibber-jabber -- what's in the can?

Selection of local cheeses with sourdough bread

Pickled kobe beef with charred strawberry
Ricotta ravioli with a soft egg yolk
Shitake mushroom topped with filled peppers
Halibut poached in truffle butter in a coconut crepe
Risotto foraged ramps, prosciutto and fresh parmesan
French onion soup with fresh thyme and gruyere cheese
Roast pork belly and celeriac root puree
Palate cleanser, pear ginger juice
Rib eye steak with grilled mustard greens
Crack pie with milk ice cream on a vanilla tuile
French canele with a malt barley and hazelnut latte

I don't even know what half of that stuff is. Of course I'm also the guy who posts pictures of his SpaghettiO's on the Geekologie Facebook page, so that shouldn't be surprising. Most of the time I just eat out of the vending machine in my apartment building's laundry room. Guess what I had for dinner yesterday. "Doritos?" Close. "A Snickers?" Gum!

Hit the jump for a couple more shots including a closeup of the layers.

Thanks to Alonso, who agrees the best meals come in cans.
