Sadness: Average Erect Penis In US Is Only 5.6-Inches

July 17, 2013

According to a recent survey of 1,661 U.S. men, the average length of an erect American penis is only 5.6-inches (14.2-cm). And that's assuming nobody lied and added on another wishful inch. Fun fact: when I went to the doctor my penis had to be measured with a football field. "And?" Let's just say it would make for a solid kickoff.

The study, published online July 10 in the Journal of Sexual Medicine, is relatively consistent with the results of prior surveys of penis size.

Not surprisingly, penises come in all shapes and sizes. The smallest erect penis in the study was about 1.6 inches (4 cm) long, and the largest was 10.2 inches (26 cm) long.

The average penile girth was about 4.8 inches (12.2 cm).

Moreover, all erections are not created equal, the study also found. Different methods of obtaining an erection may lead to different size measurements -- men in the study who became aroused through oral sex reported larger penis size on average than those who attained erections through fantasizing...

Wait -- the smallest was only 1.6-inches?! That...that just hurts my soul. PROTIP: if you have a 1.6-inch pecker and are asked to participate in a penis related study JUST DECLINE.

Thanks to Jessie, who I'm not sure is a dude or a chick so I'm going to avoid talking about how big his/her penis is.
