Russian Rocket Explodes After Liftoff, Crashes & Burns

July 2, 2013

An unmanned Russian Proton-M heavy rocket carrying three GPS related satellites exploded shortly after launch this morning and crashed in a giant ball of hellfire nearby. The whole thing was caught on a live Russian news feed (video after the jump), where things seemed to go south pretty quick. One minute it's facing outerspace, the next back at earth. *punching Styrofoam solar system mobile* DAMMIT SPACE, WHAT DO YOU HAVE AGAINST THE RUSKIES?

Hit the jump for the video.

Thanks to bodin, Wells and Andrea, who are convinced the crash and burn was no accident and some other government doesn't want those Russian "GPS satellites" in space.
