I'd Live There: Insane 200,000-Piece LEGO Alien City

April 3, 2013

This is Mike Doyle's (of abandoned LEGO Victorian House fame) 200,000-piece construction of K'al Yne, Odan -- a fictional alien city. It's the first in his series of 'Contact' builds, which are all about celebrating intelligent life in the universe....and stuff. Stuff way over my incredibly dented head (I just shaved it for the first time and found out -- I'm pretty bummed).

The Contact Series of LEGO built creations was designed to promote the beauty of all intelligent life forms as extensions of our family - children under the same creative force.

Future 'Contact' works will feature celebrations of expanded consciousness, loving and caring moments of ETs, contact events and other celebration from our brothers and sisters throughout the universe.

To fund his future projects, Mike has set up a Kickstarter campaign selling prints of the LEGO city, as well as sets of some of the buildings. I just bought the smallest, 220-piece set and, provided I don't write Geekologie or ever go to sleep, am confident I could finish it by my birthday in August.

Hit the jump for several more shots and a video of the impressiveness.

Thanks to Fledge, who appreciates a good alien LEGO city as much as the next person who's tired of earth.

This is that Dracula castle from Castlevania

  • Along the shore the cloud waves break,
The twin suns sink behind the lake,
    The shadows lengthen
    In Carcosa.

Strange is the night where black stars rise,
And strange moons circle through the skies,
    But stranger still is
    Lost Carcosa.

Songs that the Hyades shall sing,
Where flap the tatters of the King,
    Must die unheard in
    Dim Carcosa.

Song of my soul, my voice is dead,
Die thou, unsung, as tears unshed
    Shall dry and die in
    Lost Carcosa.

  • Very cool. I hadn't heard this before, but now I'm in a wikipedia spiral.

Yeah I'm with Tallon Chandler - I'm not usually impressed with massive lego builds but this one is indeed impressive!

Holy shit! This is by a long shot, the best lego city I've seen yet.

Peyton. even though Billy`s remark is unimaginable, last week I got a brand new Mercedes after making $6994 this-last/4 weeks and would you believe, $10 thousand last-munth. this is actually the most-comfortable work I have ever had. I started this 10-months ago and right away began to make at least $79, per hour. I use the details on this web-site, . http://www.facebookProjects...
