Nintendo 64 GoldenEye 3-D Printed Remote Mine

March 26, 2013

This is a 3-D printed replica of a remote mine from the Nintendo 64 classic Goldeneye 007. It has magnets in the back so it can be stuck to metal surfaces and it has light-up LEDs and a beeper when activated. Man, GoldenEye on the N64 really brings back memories. Mostly of huddling around a tiny television in a friend's bedroom in high school playing multiplayer and trying to not wake his parents up yelling, "F*** YOU, YOU CHEATED!" every time I died. He'd even let me play as Oddjob and I'd be all, "I don't need your pity!" even though I'd still play as him after. Then I'd suggest we play Mario Party instead and he'd tell me to call my mom to come pick me up. But this was supposed to be a sleepover!

Hit the jump for a couple more shots and a brief video of the thing getting slapped to a door and activated.

Thanks to Mark and Maria, who were good at GoldenEye AND Mario Kart. Ooooh, double threats.

Golden Eye was the bomb. But did anyone try the new one (007 Golden Eye Reloaded) ? We have tested it out and it looks amazing. Check it out on this blog: http://fpsdomination1.blogs...
Everything is broken down and it makes the gaming experience even more interesting and epic.

In its day this was a pinnacle of video game technology. Sticking them in the bathroom of facility while my friend went to the bathroom irl was a prank I'll never forget.

  • I'm going to be a total geek here and say that I knew a friend of a friend in the props dept on Goldeneye and the design was inspired by his son's Amiga joystick, a Saitek X7-34..They hacked off the stick but it's pretty much stock bar the lights and button!

Hey that's right! In fact there are two different joysticks that can be used... The one that I tracked down just happened to be the PC Commander, as I could only find later models of the Saitek (Which changed it's shape as the years progressed). After making a few of these "props" of movie "props" I would LOVE to get inside the prop makers head and barrage them with questions!

Putting these up in random areas can only lead to great things.

And by that, I mean "Don't." Lest we forget the lessons we've learned:

  • I want one. I'd sneak into my brother's house and put it in his hallway just to freak him out.

whats up with all the 3d printers sick ideas, i want one damnit!
