Wood Is Good: Carved Wooden Bat-Symbol Coffee Tables

March 28, 2013

This is a series of carved wood Bat symbol coffee tables crafted by Charles Lushear of the Bohemian Workshop (previously: the functional NES controller coffee table). DC Comics apparently found out about the tables and allows Charles to display them on his website, but not sell any. You know, in case they want to come out with their own line of wooden coffee tables. That leaves us only one option: making our own. Well, you can make your own. I'm going to cut off four of my fingers and then sue the hardware store for selling a circular saw to a man who was clearly intoxicated.

Hit the jump for a couple more.

Thanks to chichi, who agrees you might want to be careful buying a Bat symbol coffee table if you don't want everybody who comes over thinking you're secretly a superhero.

  • This is the coffee table I deserve, but not the one I need right now.

  • Johnny On The Spot

I'd love to stumble into one of those in the middle of the night.

  • DC is notoriously protective of their copyrights. They successfully sued to have a custom car maker in California cease making replica Batmobiles after arguing in court that the Batmobile is a character in the Batman universe and is thus protected by copyright. Interesting case.

So, are you saying the bat symbol is a character too? I can't have an entire house shaped like the bat symbol because of copy rights? what if I say that i just like the outline of a bat and that it remotely looks like their property?

Batmobile is in love with Wonder Woman's invisible plane so yeah obviously it is a character.
