Learning By Looking: The Evolution Of Batman Icons

December 17, 2012

This is a poster featuring the evolution of Batman icons over the past 72 years. It's like a static version of the video version of the symbols mutating that we saw a couple years ago. This one you can hang on your wall though. Granted it might not look as good hanging there as an 8 x 10 autographed photo of yours truly, but I do have a really cool signature. I do this really curvy flourish when I cross my T's AND dot my i's with little hearts. "Oh my God, GW is a 12 year old girl." Thirteen. I'm practically a woman now.

Thanks to Cameron, who got drunk at a party and tried to tell everyone Batman and the Joker were the same person and now nobody invites him to parties anymore.

  • Some of these are the costume logos for those who are confused. Only some are for title cards and any other media.

  • What?! They made Batman vs. Alien and Predator!?!?!

You think Batman has to send Gotham PD a new vector file every time the logo is updated so they put the correct one on the Bat-signal?

the 1989 Burton Batman logo is also incorrect.

It might be clearer if the poster is showing the MOVIE or COMIC logo as opposed to the COSTUME logo. I mean, it seems that they're showing the MEDIA logo and not what's on his suit in most of these, rendering most of them incorrect as COSTUME logos.

@facebook-627486329:disqus the batman begins logo is correct. new suit and logo were created for TDK. check the movie again.

incorrect the logo was the same in all three movies. it was the same as the bats he throws. if you are referencing the suit emblem then its still incorrect the wingtips are higher then the ears, and the wings are the wrong shape. not sure where the poster maker got that particular logo from.

  • wrong.

  • jimmy

if you look at each one in order, it looks like an animation of a bat flying toward you, then crashing into a window...

  • Cr1mson3lbow

The Batman Begins logo is incorrect. Batman begins has the same logo as Dark Knight/ Rises.....
