Feb 25 2008Pet Peek Makes Your Dog An Astronaut, Sad

pet-peek.jpg

Pet Peeks are torture devices for dogs that make them look like space cadets. They consist of an acrylic plastic bubble you install in the fence so your pet can see out. They cost $30 apiece and make me sad. I'm not really convinced that a Pet Peek is better than your dog just not knowing what's happening on the other side. I mean, why not just a hole? Ah yes, dogs can't wipe their snot on a hole. Nor can you sell them (except in donut form).

FRIST!

And let's just take notice on how low that fence is. Why doesn't the dog just jump over the freakin thing and see what is on the other side that way. And don't tell me that dog can't make it over. Anyone who has a dog knows that that dog can make it over that short, baby fence.

Maybe it's just a really BIG dog?

No but seriously, I know someone who's dog got his face just about tore off from sticking his head thru a fence and another dog attacked him.
So I can see the logic in the Pet Peeek.

#3, this isn't a big dog, and #2's right, it's a tiny fence, which the dog can clear. If you have a dog that's so bored that he/she is driven to look for better places, then you shouldn't own a dog...just entertain 'em. Another piece of crap for people with pets and enough money to waste.

even better than the actual product: this review. i really dig the humor you guys toss into some of your posts, don't stop, it's why i keep coming back.

(1) My Collie wouldn't have been able to use that because of his long nose. He had to tip his nose towards the ground and lean his forehead against the patio doors to see onto the porch. (2) My Collie could jump a five foot fence. I had to install a 6 foot fence. (3) My Collie got his nose stuck in a chain link from forcefully shoving it through when a gang of dogs walking by wouldn't pay attention to him.

That bubble is a piece of crap.

I have a Collie too! Their snouts are huge.
This thing is wierd

I'm sure your neighbours will love your dog checking out their yard, let alone have an intrusive bubble on their side of the fence.

I'd say the dog's standing up on his hind legs.

If I put one of those in my fence, I'd have the small, dirty faces of neighbours' children peering in at me all the time.

Oh go eat a bag of dicks Cora! (#10) We don't come to geekologie to read spam about dating sites. Comments should be informative or humourous....nothing more.

PREPARE FOR OBLIVION....FOR WHICH THERE IS NO PREPARATION!

cora's comment just cracked me up.

thanks laz! that comment was in reference to some spam that appears to have been deleted.

I did think it was odd that "cora sucks" was actually talking about themselves. That really threw me for a loop and even made me laugh.

I think what a dog really wants it to smell what is on the other side of the fence and more accurately the ass of what ever is on the other side of the fence. What you really need is a hole in the fence that is the exact size of your dogs snout.

He does look like an astronaut and I too love your commentary.

Good work.

From a dog trainers point of view, this whole concept is a REALLY BAD IDEA. Dogs who are left alone in a backyard, who are given complete control of that space, are the ones who develop issues; anxiety, fixations, excessive barking, territorial issues. Allowing a dog to now LOOK at whatever its trying to scare away (say a random walking person) and actually watch that person walk by, has reinforced the bad behavior. Now it the dogs mind, what he's doing is working. He barked in an attempt to scare someone away, and that person went away. All in all a VERY BAD IDEA. If anyone has any questions or wants to know more about training or behavior modification, feel free to check out the tips section on my job's site. www.wannagoout.net ENJOY!
