Zoom And Enhance: NASA Releases A Beautiful 4K Tour Of The Moon

This is a video released from NASA that takes us on a 4K tour of the moon, thanks to all the data collected by the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter spacecraft. When I get home I'm going to watch it on my 4K television for MAXIMUM RESOLUTION. Oooor just jump straight into playing Far Cry 5, it's really hard to say. If I were a betting man though, I'd put my money on shooting cultists. Maybe I'll watch the moon before bed. Or maybe I won't -- my life is an exciting mystery! "You barely leave the house." I haven't wandered outside a six block radius in months.

Keep going for the video while I consider having cereal for dinner. I'm wild.

Thanks to Pavel, who agrees it's high time NASA stops dicking around and opens a bar on the moon already.

The Zeeman Crater might be an interesting look... Might be.

That was disappointing and honestly, some parts looked like a 3d animation. When zooming into the moon it almost looked like layers shifting as they tried to stay lined up with each other...similar to differing cloud layers will look like while you are driving.
When zooming into some of the features, they had a smooth plastic-y look to them like a 3d model would have.
When zooming into the lunar landing sight, it almost looked like it was going through clouds or a fog bank...then when it got close to the lander, the features were muddled with not much clarity as was with other features that were zoomed in on.

It's a composite of a shit-ton of images and scans and other what-have-yous. It's a bit of a limitation of current technology.

I sort of like how when you really crank on the resolution knob you get shit that looks unrealistic. Basically "more reality equals more fake looking"

Indeed, the very same way it works on Google Earth.

I'm just here for the conspiracy theorists go on about this CGI rendering, blah blah etc etc
