Man Experimenting With A Magnet Strong Enough To Repel A Mouse

This is a video of Youtuber The Action Lab performing a bunch of different experiments with a large neodymium magnet that's even powerful enough to visibly repel a mouse, due to the quantum mechanical effect of diamagnetism (which occurs in every material in the world, including animals -- links to Wikipedia if you feel like learning. Also, just FYI the animal doesn't feel any overall force at all since every cell in its body is being repelled equally). Pretty fascinating, right? Of course, there's also the possibility that the mouse isn't really diamagnetic at all and-- "Magneto and Minnie behind Mickey's back?" I'm just saying, she wasn't at Disneyland the last time I went.

Keep going for the video.

Thanks to Vicky R, who agrees there is absolutely zero scientific proof we understand how magnets work.

He should hang the magnets next to the mice and that way it'll keep going around for ever! Think of all the free energy that could be harnessed from it perpetually going around like a turbine. Granted the feeding and waste removal for the mice is a challenge but that's why we have engineers.

The real question is: Will this magnet repel my ex-wife?

  • n_a_a_s

i am strong enough to repel a mouse

  • Closet Nerd

I bought a little harness, D-rings, and rope to help my mouse repel down a mountain .....just sayin'

oooh I've been subscribed to him since he was a small channel crushing things with a hydraulic press. It's cool seeing him on this site because a lot of his experiments are really interesting.

How is he sure that its the mouse being reppeled and not static eletricity from the cup?

  • The_Wretched

Take the mouse out and try again? Maybe do a control with a very static cup by rubbing some fur on it first.

  • 5goldcoins

Honestly just doing it with empty cups once would have been enough to quit my skepticism.

  • sizzlepants

How does this $800 magnet manage to push a mouse around but doesn't affect the ring on this douchebag's finger?

  • Emmitt Morgans

If the ring is made of silver, magnesium, platinum, or aluminum, it's not going to be affected by a magnet of any kind... apart from the diamagnetism seen affecting the mouse.

If the ring were made of iron, nickel, or cobalt, things would look quite a bit different in this video.

  • Jeffrey Simonson

Then why is he able to hold it? Lol

  • Bling Nye

    It's animal magnetism baby.

My fellow worker Aden, from Boston, repaid his college credit fully, and what's a lot more captivating, is the fact that he has done it by working on the internet 1h 30 min regularly, using particular instruction they exposed there. After I asked him what precisely he was engaging in, he directed me this online page
