Man Demonstrates The Incredibly Complex Puzzle Box He Build For His Father

February 23, 2018

This is a video of Ryan Calme demonstrating all the steps required (there are a lot of them) to open the extremely complicated puzzle box he built for his father. It's got everything: cyphers, enigmatic symbols, magnets, electronics, gears, hidden compartments, AND MORE. Sure it's nothing one well-placed blow from a hammer couldn't solve, but what fun would that be? "Tons." Heck yeah, my middle name isn't Hammersmash for no reason. "Wait -- your middle name is Hammersmash?" Well it will be as soon as the court approves it. "What was it before?" Lovestocuddle. "Interesting." I thought it would give me a leg-up on dating websites.

Keep going for the video. Oh, and you can find all the files to build your own if you're interested on GitHub HERE.

Thanks to K Diddie, who agrees the key to solving a puzzle box is finding a video of its solution on Youtube.

Hoping that box originally had a bottle of Scotch in it instead of just being empty.

Their Thanksgiving Dinners must be OFF THE HOOK.

Wow. I tried to make a crossword puzzle for my Dad one year and found it too difficult. I mean I was like 7 years old, but still.

  • Bling Nye

Wow. I would be indescribably proud if my child made this for me. Awesome.

  • Jenness

Me too. This is absolutely impressive talent and intelligence on display. I would show this to everyone who came over to my house until they were sick to death of me. lol

It all makes sense, kinda, but the part where you have to put the drawer in upside down to get the 3 and 6 spoke cogs seems messed up. Like there's no hint or indication that you should do it.

  • Bling Nye

I didn't look closely but I think the drawer had something on it that might've hinted it would work to do that... but I could be wrong.

Besides, I think if you spend enough time fiddling with this thing, trying different things out, you're possibly bound to try doing that at some point I think.

I know this would've kept me occupied for a while, I liked how complicated it was. I really enjoy these kinds of things. And I was really impressed with the level of craftsmanship.

  • Doog

No doubt it's a crazy impressive puzzle box and it's awesome he laid out all the plans for it for people to use or at least see.

Could probably sell a few of them instead and do slight tweaks like changing D-A-D to M-O-M and what not.
