Die With Me, A Smartphone App For Chatting With Strangers Who Also Have Less Than 5% Battery Life

Die With Me is a $1 smartphone app you can only use when your battery life is less than 5%. If it is, you can open the app and enter a chatroom with other strangers whose phones are also about to die so you can all commiserate together. Me? I've never let my phone battery drop below 60%, but that's just me and I take my device seriously and give it the respect it deserves. "No, nobody ever calls or texts." That's not true. "Your mom doesn't count." Why wouldn't she? Besides, if my phone was hypothetically about to die, you know what I would do? "Charge it?" Like a raging bull, and hopefully poke some holes in it with my horns. "That's not what I meant." I know what you meant, and you were wrong.

Keep going for a video about the app, which is available for Apple devices HERE and Android devices HERE.

Thanks to Charlotte, who always carries around a portable power bank in the event of a low battery. FUN FACT: I used to have one of those that I bought at the dollar store and it caught fire.

I remember reading an analogy once that really stuck with me. You want to use your battery to a certain extent to keep the power cells functioning properly so don't keep it plugged into a wall all day and night, but you also don't want to drain it completely all the time because that is really hard on it.

It's like sitting on the couch all day is bad for you. But also running a marathon every single day is also going to be bad for you.

  • GeneralDisorder

This is weird and confusing but also I don't ever let my phone to get to 5%. I'll even go so far as to turn my phone off at around 6% (unless I'm home and have a charger handy).

  • Meh

This is going to take 5 minutes to become a literal suicide team up app. First thing in my mind.

  • Doog

I really thought that's what this app was at first and while I'm relieved it isn't you're absolutely right that it's only a matter of time.

  • TheQiwiMan

    This is hilarious.

But now I'm thinking it's only a matter of time before there's an app made to facilitate people wanting suicide pacts, and now I'm sad.

  • Meh

Yes this! - without the sadness.
