A Back To The Future DeLorean Inspired Gullwing Door Volkswagen Bus

This is the time-traveling DeLorean inspired 1967 Volkswagen Type 2 bus that was modified with gullwing front doors, a flux capacitor, and time-traveling instrumentation in the dash. It also has a flatscreen in the back. It's available for sale if you're interested and have $98,000 -- or you can just look at these pictures and think to yourself, "Well that's nice," and move on with your life. Besides, I doubt the van's 1.5-liter flat four motor is capable of doing the 88MPH needed to time travel driving anywhere but off a cliff.

Keep going for shots from all around and inside.

Never a fan of yellow for interior colors. White and blues and blacks always looked good together though.

I know those were 60s colors and I get that, but...

what a waste of a good car

  • GeneralDisorder

I think calling a VW anything a "good car" is a bit of a stretch. But... a "valuable car" I would agree with.

One problem, a first generation VW bus would never make it to 88mph.

I came here to say this, but you beat me to it, good on ya.

  • dougfunnay

    actually pretty cool
seems like a pain in the ass to close those doors though

  • What happens when you remove the structural rigidity of a vehicle already known for being a deathbox?

Looks badass though. No idea whether Xhibit's team knew they had to reinforce the hell out of that roof to handle the weight of the gulls wing doors.

    BTTF is my favorite movie...
A VW bus is my dream vehicle...
    This is f***ing beautiful.
