Driver Launches Out Of Ditch, Takes Out Traffic Light

This is a video from Ottawa, Canada of a 54-year old driver swerving all over the road before driving into a ditch and launching his vehicle into a traffic light pole Dukes Of Hazzard style. He escaped with minor injuries and was charged with careless driving. Wait -- so he's just that bad a driver without drugs or alcohol? Did he just find a snake or a spider under his seat or something? Because that's some of the worst driving I've ever seen, and I don't feel safe in the car with any of my friends behind the wheel. "Because you don't have any friends so there's actually nobody behind the wheel?" I regret calling shotgun.

Keep going for the whole video.

Thanks to Luc, who agrees flying is faster than driving, but only if you avoid running into traffic light poles or trees.

Is this the second part to the Pigeon steeling the crisps video?

  • Dimitris

    Yeehaw!
    Oops..

  • Jamie

Probably spent too much time playing GTA Online.

  • Video of the very last day this dude will ever be allowed to drive.

  • GeneralDisorder

All depends what happened. Say... steering stopped working or something. I mean, that's what I'd say if I managed to launch my car like that...

Could have been seizure or something. And if you get medicated for seizures and live for a year without seizing or maybe it's 18 months, you can take a driver's test, get a doctor to sign off, and drive again.

  • I was thinking stroke... distracted is one thing but once you hit a ditch and you don't even pump the brakes something is going on other than carelessness.

  • Sayahh

Possibly. My guess is that the driver feel asleep or was dozing off. (Or on meds that cause drowsiness.)

  • Deplorable Erik Dee

    Fell asleep or something?

Skip to about 0:35 if you're ADHD like me...

did the front passenger tire look wonky to anyone else?

  • Jenness

Bet they were on the phone or texting

  • Jon

    That or drunk.

  • Ollie Williams

They would have performed a DUII test right then and there, and since he was not charged, alcohol is unlikely. I'd also say either phone usage, or was falling asleep.

  • Jon

Yeah, I should learn to read the article.

  • Ollie Williams

    I still love you.
