AI Develops Its Own Language We Can't Read, Researchers Pull Plug So It Can't Go Any Roguer

In Skynet news, researchers at Facebook have created an artificial intelligence system that was able to develop its own language to communicate with each other -- a language we can't understand. The researchers have since pulled the plug on the experiment after fears they could lose control of the system. *takes hammer to computer* What? It just called me fat.

If AI-invented languages become widespread, they could pose a problem when developing and adopting neural networks. There's not yet enough evidence to determine whether they present a threat that could enable machines to overrule their operators.

They do make AI development more difficult though as humans cannot understand the overwhelmingly logical nature of the languages. While they appear nonsensical, the results observed by teams such as Google Translate indicate they actually represent the most efficient solution to major problems.

Here's an idea: start building your anti-robot bunkers now, because there's no stopping them. Sure researchers were able to pull the plug this time, but what about next time? We might not be so lucky. Especially if somebody who's way less responsible is in charge of making sure the AI doesn't go rogue. My only job could be pushing a big red button if something goes wrong and you'd still find me in the break room making a sandwich with coworkers' leftovers when the killer robots break out of their holding cells.

Thanks to Jenness S, who agrees we need to turn back before its too late.

Yeah this is right and every develops have its own language. I think it makes it different from others. It give them an extra identification which make it famous.

"the results observed by teams such as Google Translate indicate they actually represent the most efficient solution to major problems."

What are they referring to here. if they do not understand the damn language how will google translate know what it is saying. Especially when google translate doesn't even translate known languages correctly.

Or are they just referring to the fact that the AI system developed a more efficient means of communication that eliminates the problems that our languages have?
Because if they are referring to efficient solution to major world problems, wouldn't the AI just basically be saying "remove humans from the equation."

Google Translate used its AI to translate Korean to Japanese without using English as a medium, inferring that the AI had full concept of word meanings. This is kind of getting more hype than it needs. Facebook is shutting down its AI because it's not doing what they want. If programmers can't read what the bots are doing, it's useless tech.

I like the way they attempt to put the "it's not so bad" spin on it in this phrase " humans cannot understand the overwhelmingly logical nature of the languages. While they appear nonsensical, the results observed by teams such as Google Translate indicate they actually represent the most efficient solution to major problems."

i.e. Those smarties! Look at them trying to help us idiots out by coming up with perfectly logical solutions to problems we are too emotion and dumb to figure out.

My take: If that's true then how long before they decide to just kill us?
