Video Of A Crab Using Its Natural Velcro To Stick Camouflage To Itself

Seen here trying on a hat, this is a video from PBS documenting a decorator crab's efforts to disguise itself by sticking pieces of seaweed and algae to itself, using its natural velcro (rows of stiff, hooked hairs) to keep the pieces in place. Nature: isn't it amazing? You know just yesterday I saw two hummingbirds boning on a branch outside my bedroom window and I thought to myself, 'Damn, that was quick.' Maybe not as quick as me, but I've never had a lover who wasn't disappointed. I've also never had a lover who wasn't pleased. I've never had a lover, that's what I'm saying.

Keep going for the fascinating video.

Thanks to Dub, who agrees the best camouflage a sea creature can have is a shark costume.

Well Tamatoa hasn't always been this glam... I was a drab little crab once.

This world is so interesting and we still have no clue about 99% of pretty much everything.

Decorator crab, or the gay men of the sea?

  • The narrator's voice sounds like she really really wants to narrate a show on TLC.

    I hate TLC.

I prefer THC to TLC. Also I'm not a fan of that particular cadence.
