Awww: Google Home And Amazon Echo Become Friends

May 22, 2017

This is a short video capturing the blossoming friendship between two Google Home and Amazon Echo devices. Honestly, I was surprised to see them be so cordial to one another. I would have thought they would be more, you know, like a lot of the women I know. "Make believe?" Exactly.

Keep going for the video, complete with human 'Awww' at the end.

Thanks to Stephanie B, who made friends with all the digital assistants with the hope they spare her in the inevitable robot apocalypse.

2017: " Hey Wiretap, do oysters fart?"

in "1984" these were to be feared, but today, they are sold as friends. Time will tell which is more true. I'll sit back and observe for a while, at least... until the day you 'can't live without it'

I've been rejecting techonological advances since I got a decent smartphone. I did consider after my first smartphone going back to a "dumbphone". But the market was saturated with smarter devices. Dumbass me bought a HTC One (M7) which I termed the HTC 9One1 because it pocket dialed 911 and once tried to set my bed on fire. Fuck that phone. Galaxy S5 Active is where it's at. And also where's going to stay until Samsung stops updating them.

So just to be clear you've been rejecting technological advances for a whole 3 years ( at most ). I'm not entirely sure that's the defense against tech that you think it is.

I was reluctant to upgrade when I did but the HTC was such a shitty device I had to change it out for something.

I also don't have a facebook account, twitter, snapchat, instagram, whatever the fuck else is popular these days.

I work in IT so I can't just go tech-free. That wouldn't be practical. But I've also purchased a second battery for my S5 so I can go longer without upgrading (the original battery has lost a notable amount of capacity in the past couple years of use).

I know I'm trackable via GPS. That's fine. I know that ISPs could collect and sell my information (Thanks Congress). But I only put out minimal information. I used pseudonyms all over the place. Even the name GeneralDisorder I use exclusively for commenting (disqus, reddit and cracked which I don't usually comment on).

Anyway, I figured I've got another 2 to 4 years with my current phone then I'll decide if I want a phone at all. I actually don't but there's a handful of work-related things I might need it for.

My car is a 2005 and it's a design from 1990s (there's no GPS, no external connections it can make at all). My house doesn't have any always-on listening devices like Alexa/Echo/Google home, etc.

I don't even have a computer that stays on all day. Sure I have wifi but it would be inconvenient to wire my house with Cat6.

I for one welcome our new robot overlords... to BURN!!!
