How To: Scale A Wall With A Long Stick (And Two Friends You Really Trust)

This is a video of some Vietnamese tactical training that involves scaling up to the third floor of a building with nothing but a long, sturdy stick and two spotters. It's kind of like a pole vault with no vault, just the pole. I was impressed. And I'd try it myself if there were actually two people in the world I could trust not to drop and paralyze me. My friends are easily distracted though. One time on the way to Dairy Queen my buddy Dave drove us off the road into a creek because he saw a bird. Now I have chronic neck and back pain because of a crow.

Keep going for the video.

Thanks JMal, who still prefers a grappling hook.

These guys should learn what ladder races are. For those not "in the know" you can Google "ladder race" and just watch the first couple videos that show up. You see 3 dudes scale the same distance in less than the time it takes for one to get up. The ladders are shorter and lighter so you could send in two tactical hook ladders and send up two dudes then have them secure the balcony for the next two.

How many dudes lost their lives trying this? I'm thinking a bunch because WTH - that's some medieval "Overlords say this is what we must do and because death is a sweet respite from this plague-ridden hellish life I'll volunteer first"

Hiding the stick from the Henchmen guarding the gate must be painful.
