Nintendo Game Designer Shigeru Miyamoto Plays The Mario Theme With The Roots

This is a video of legendary Nintendo video game designer Shigeru Miyamoto performing the Super Mario Bros theme with The Roots on The Tonight Show. Me? I don't watch The Tonight Show because it's way past my bedtime (7PM), so I watch day shows. Mostly The Price Is Right and soap operas. Did you know soap operas are called soap operas because they were historically sponsored by soap companies? That's true. I'm hoping a sex toy company sponsors my opera. That'll get all the old ladies in assisted living communities excited. Back me up, Golden Girls! Golden Girls? Oh right, they're all dead. "Betty White is still alive." Man she must have witch's blood in her or something.

Keep going for the video.

Thanks to Cole, who was really hoping for a Legend Of Zelda encore.

Would be cool if you could actually hear Miyamoto's guitar....

I bet they gave him the acoustic for a reason. Specifically so his pluckery wouldn't ruin The Roots skillful playing.

I understand that professional musicians are more competent than somebody who doesn't play music for a living, but what's the point of having him play along if you can't hear his instrument? Seems kinda disrepectful to completely drown out Miyamoto's playing because the band he is accompanying is more "skillful".

I feel like the members of The Roots probably aren't as obnoxious as a handful of really terrible artists. In fact I've heard somewhere (probably made up in my head) that the members of The Roots are all pretty decent human beings.

Now if it was like... Axel Rose then you'd know I was right.

I wish they sang the lyrics to it too.

  • GeneralDisorder

There are lyrics? Are you sure you didn't make that up during a fever dream? Or perhaps a meth fog? Or... acid trip?

The last time I took LSD I held a lengthy conversation with Mr. Mackey from South Park. I don't remember what we talked about but it was probably the least pleasant part of that trip.

    Right... Acid trip. Got it.

  • The_Wretched

It might have been an acid trip. they were loosely based on Ezekiel 23:20
