3 Microns Tall: The World's Smallest Snowman

These are a couple shots of the world's smallest snowman. The snowman "was fabricated from three 0.9 micron silica spheres stacked with the use of electron beam lithography. The eyes and mouth were cut with a focused ion beam while the arms and nose were sculpted with platinum." The whole snowman (technically a silicaman) stands at just under 3 microns tall (a micron, or micrometer, is on- millionth of a meter). For reference, 3 microns is about the length of your ex-boyfriend's penis, or your ex-girlfriend's new boyfriend's penis. Jk jk, that's more like just the snowman's nose. HIYO -- I'm so good to you. Seriously though you're better off without them.

Thanks to Katie B, who likes the little two-ball snowmen standing around him that were abandoned when the kids that were building them were called in for dinner by their moms.

    I think that's a silicaman, not a snowman.

This is ridiculously cute and I'm sure will advance medical and other innovations 1000 fold. Way to go tiny builders!!
