No Thank You: Massive 3.2-Foot Wasp Nest Found In Attic

September 28, 2016

This is the giant 3.2-foot round wasp nest found in the attic of a home in Corby, Northamptonshire, England. The nest was discovered when the house was being renovated, and includes a 4.5-foot long tunnel connecting the nest with the outside. Thankfully for the homeowner, the nest was abandoned over a year ago, and all that remained of the 6,000 - 10,000 wasp colony were a couple hundred dead wasps around the nest. What a relief. So if you had to choose, would you rather have chain-rattling ghosts or stinging wasps in your attic? "Homeowner's insurance and a fire." Damn, you saw right through my trick question, I like that about you.

Keep going for a couple more shots.

Thanks to Hunter N, who agrees the first thing you should do whenever you find a wasp nest is bet a friend to poke it with a stick.

  • Orbit.

    From orbit.

    Only way to be sure.

  • At first I was like "Oh no, the poor bees." Then I saw it was wasps and I wanted to hold a party.
