Iceberg Flips Over In Front Of Icelandic Tour Boat

iceberg-flipping.jpg

This is a video of an iceberg flipping over while a boatful of tourists in Iceland oooh and aaah. Actually witnessing an iceberg flip over is extremely rare, which occurs when melting causes an iceberg's weight distribution to change. Or maybe the iceberg is just trying to get comfortable, like flipping a pillow at night looking for the cold side. One thing's for certain though: these tourists definitely got their money's worth for the iceberg watching expedition none of their children wanted to go on. Is watching an iceberg flip good luck? Because I just watched this video twice for EXTRA good luck. "Videos don't count." Soooooo... "You probably shouldn't have just bought $400 in lotto scratchers." Damn it all.

Keep going for the video.

Thanks to my mom, who, along with my dad, I'm going to go on a cruise with one day. Just as soon as I build up the courage.

Flipping over that pillow to expose the colder side is an understatement.

  • Meh

That's pretty cool too see, i can only imagine the parts in the front broke off and thus it flipped. Cool to see the colors on the ice that was in the water, so much pollution and shit.

Actually, the brown layers are a natural part of the ice. They're layers made up from ash following volcanic eruptions near the glaciers thousands of years ago! Science! I imagine this video was taken at Jokulsarlon, which is sort of a natural inlet from the sea, which a big glacier empties into. The glacier is gradually receding as bits break off, leaving a lake littered with loads of icebergs which gradually melt in the salty water. It's a pretty ace place to visit....

Also, it's the place where they filmed the ice lake car chase scene in that awful Pierce Brosnan Bond film... facts!
