Learning By Looking: The United States Of Which Show Each State Streams The Most

March 7, 2016

united-states-of-streaming-shows.jpg

This is a map of the United States showing which show each state allegedly streams the most. I say allegedly because Netflix and Hulu don't release consumer data by state so the folks that made it extrapolated their data from Google Trends which means it could all be complete shit. I don't even know what half these shows on the map are. Still, I did learn something by looking at it. Mostly that now there's a mysterious group of islands underneath the southwest U.S. where Mexico used to be.

Thanks to Rebbecca, who agrees the best show to stream is the live-feed from the International Space Station because learning is cool.

    Shenanigans. Children's Hospital?

This is a bunch of BS... I've been living in WA for years n years and I've never heard of "Terriers" and have never seen a commercial... I had to look up on Wikipedia... "Terriers is an American crime comedy-drama television series created by Ted Griffin that aired on FX from September 8 to December 1, 2010.[1] The show was canceled by FX on December 6, 2010 after the first season...

Yeah... Even with all the legal weed up here... I don't think so...

  • larry cornwater

Lol, right? And it's somehow the most popular show in Maine as well and the only show that appears more than once on that map. Doesn't seem likely.

  • MustacheHam

The Tudors...haven't seen it. But it does sound interesting.

  • Saturns Eye

Great!.. Now what do we do with this data?

  • InnDEEEEEEEEEEEEEED

Fake, not fake, I'm just delighted to see Terriers getting the top spot in 2 states!

  • - x

    Fake

  • Michael Knight

weird that there are absolutely zero repeats.

  • InnDEEEEEEEEEEEEEED

lawl thats wrong Iowa=Supernatural; fckn parenthood is a jok, not to mention cw quad cities broadcast air first= first supernatural and trust me is viewed more then parenthood down here. The again most people use watch free websites you know the ones you dont pay for, or oh torrent streaming well shit.... But the real reality of this map that Ik is BS is it should look some thing like this http://s23.postimg.org/w0g22bm...

What does this map show? Is it each state's most streamed show, or a show that each state streams more than any other state? It just seems odd that no two states have the same show, unless it's the latter.

  • I came here to comment on the exact same thing, it was the first thing that stuck out at me.

  • Captain Matticus, LP Inc.

I think the latter is more accurate, so their choice of words is off.

  • Munihausen

    Questionable...

  • Carlo Simon

Childrens Hospital?? Really? I mean, yeah its a great funny show and all but... really???

  • Professor Spookypop

Childrens Hospital? That's not a real show. Please say it's not a real show.

I live in the West Virginia section (yet I technically live in Ohio) of the Ohio Valley, which (in regards culture and types of people) is pretty much 60% West Virginia, 25% Ohio and 15% Pennsylvania.

So alot of iZombie, a little bit of Family Guy, and even less of Its Always Sunny.
Y'know I usually dislike PA because of their awful roads and the fact that their education is so much better than the other 2 states, but I can't fault them in their streamed show of choice.

  • I don't get their genre classifications.
    Sci-Fi?
Would Game of Thrones and Buffy really count as Sci-Fi?
And why do Heros and The Walking Dead count as Drama?

  • Mecha-Shiva

And the Bernie Mac Show is a drama too, somehow. Plus Person of Interest and Agents of SHIELD are dramas. It's a little more iffy, but I wouldn't call Parenthood a comedy either. Either this was put together in a hurry, or whoever made it has never watched a TV show.

  • Ollie Williams

Of course we stream Portlandia the most. It's like the extremely accurate documentary of our city that no one wants to admit.
