For Raising Cthulhu: A Wood Carved Tentacle Crib

March 25, 2016

This is the tentacle crib carved out of walnut by Atlanta based woodworker Garrick Andrus for some friends, who commissioned the piece. Thankfully, from inside the crib it doesn't look as creepy as from outside the crib. The end carvings on the crib are kinda creepy. When I was a kid I was always trying to get out of my crib because I was an ESCAPE ARTIST. "You got your head stuck between the slats and cried till your parents came to get you." I didn't say I was a very good escape artist. My highchair though -- I could rock that thing till it fell over and I could crawl out. My mom says that's why the sides of my head are dented.

Keep going for a couple closeups.

Thanks to Bruce Alrighty, who wants to carve a crib that looks like a pirate ship. YES, and carve it big enough for an adult. Carve it for me.

I'm Tentacle Crib baby's aunt. Some notes about the crib: the slats are regulation size/spacing, the mattress lowers just like a standard crib, which will prevent climbing up (when a kid can climb out of a crib, it's time to move them to a big kid bed anyway), and baby sleeps very well in it.
