Conceptual Clothes Washing Stationary Exercise Bike

This is the conceptual BWM (Bike Washing Machine) designed by students at Dalian Nationalities University in China. It washes clothes while you get your cardio. Obviously, it will never make it past the conceptual stage because even Lance Armstrong isn't into exercising his clothes clean.

"When you ride this bike, the pedaling motion causes the drum of the washing machine to rotate," the students wrote on design site Tuvie. "At the same time, superfluous electricity is generated, which can be used to power the display screen or stored for future use."

Alternatively, stir your clothes in a barrel with a stick. That's exercise too. Then when they're clean I hang them up on the line and beat them with another stick to dry them. I live an old fashioned life. I make my own butter too. "Out of cow's milk?" You make butter out of cow's milk? "How have you been doing it?" Oh boy. I've gotta stop Peter before he gets to the farmer's market!

Keep going for two more completely unnecessary images.

  • Show me an average American citizen with one of these, and I will show you an average American citizen that has absolutely no clean clothes.

  • Get back to me when there's a bike sammich-making machine!

  • Royalblueduck

Makes a perfect gift for HER!

  • The_Wretched

Can it use the sweat of the rider to cut down on water usage?

  • Bling Nye

I'm honestly surprised they didn't make it a combo, wash and dry... because I'm sure not buying a separate dryer bike.

  • Big McLargehuge

    My cat would love this.

  • Gene Kaufman

I dunno if this would work that great for washing.
Drying on the other hand might be the ticket.

  • MustacheHam

Plus the drying stage of doing laundry does take the longest and folks will benefit from that more. :)
