Perfect For A 1990's Dorm Room: Giant Gummi Bear Inflatable Lounge Chair

February 3, 2016

This is the $40 Gummi Bear Chair available from Vat19 (previously: their real 26-pound gummi bear). It looks like a giant gummi bear and comes in a variety of colors. Just kidding, only red. That would have looked awesome in my dorm room below all my supermodel posters and liquor bottles filled with highlighter. Those were the days. Cherish your youth, kids. The thing I love most about inflatable chairs is they're easy to pop, so they're the perfect furniture for somebody who only wants a chair for a couple weeks, then a plastic rug.

Keep going for a couple more shots and an arousing video about the chair (I didn't think it was possible either, but boners don't lie. Jk jk boners lie all the time).

Thanks to Allyson S, who agrees you're never too old for a loft bed with your computer desk underneath it.

Thanks! I could have just used Google... but complaining seemed like more fun.

  • As soon as I saw the first image I knew it was Vat19. I love those guys, they're what ThinkGeek should strive to be like.

Searches for "Portal 2" and "Doctor Who" resulted in ZERO hits at Vat19... ThinkGeek automatically wins.

(I searched for a few other nerdy IPs and also found no hits for "Star Trek" and "Zelda"... Vat19 isn't one for much licensing are they?)

  • Right, right. I forgot the true spirit of geekdom comes down to monetizing established TV shows, movies, video games and books.

Why bother with selling useless gadgets and stationary-type things if you can't also make those useless items pieces of shameless merchandising?

    Vat19 is to Mac.
    ThinkGeek is to PC.
They have their own roles and styles.
Also this is the best comparison I have... :3

  • I would argue that it's the other way around. ThinkGeek tries way too hard to be edgy and hip, like Apple...and they charge way more for their products when you can get the same thing from elsewhere for much cheaper.

I've seen my fair share of inflatable companions to know this will only end in tears.

  • Text double entendre for the win! Tears like the watery things we cry, or tears like when you rip it apart with your massive dong.

  • If you can't shag on it what's the point?
