I'd Eat With It: Beautiful Elven Looking Silverware Set

February 8, 2016

This is the Setae Flatware set 3-D printed in metal by the designers at Francis Bitonti Studio. After printing, the set was cast in sterling silver for a beautiful, sparkling finish. I bought a 20-piece flatware set from IKEA for $8. It looks absolutely nothing like this one and starts to rust if you leave it in the sink overnight. I kind of want this one. "Me too -- especially the dinglehoppers." The Little Mermaid, ladies and gentlemen! What are you doing here anyways? Also, not to spread any rumors or anything, but a crab friend of mine said he saw Prince Eric with his arm around a dolphin the other day.

Keep going for a couple more shots.

Thanks to carey, who eats with her hands because less dishes to do afterwards. I admire that.

Why is the silverware doing backbends? They are pretty front on but tortured in profile.

These look unusable - I mean the spoons don't look like they can function well at all as spoon and the forks look too sharp, like they'd be a bit more needle-like and stabby than what you want. It's artful and lovely - but I don't think you could eat from them.

looks like a bitch to clean

  • Xockszky

that is exactly what I was about to say!

I can't find a price on these, so I assume it's one of those "if you have to ask, you can't afford it" deals, in which case you can also afford to hire someone to do the cleaning.

They said this set was made by some designers using a 3D printer, so I don't think these are for sale at all or will be unless there is some HUGE demand for them. They're just a piece of art at the moment in this one set and aren't for sale anywhere.

I'm kind of doubting they are for sale at all. I mean, I guess everything has a price, but it seems like the artist just made these for himself as a proof of workmanship.
