Fan-Powered Hoverboard Allegedly Arriving In April

December 28, 2015

This is a promotional video for the ArcaBoard, a potentially fake/really shitty $20,000 hoverboard. The board generates 430 pounds of thrust and 272 horsepower using 36 high power electric fans, providing riders six clumsy minutes of ride time before it needs a six hour recharge. Okay the piss-poor ride time versus charge time I actually believe.

It has a built-in stabilization unit, meaning that ArcaBoard is stable in any condition and is a very safe platform to fly on. You will be able to utilize your phone for control and navigation of the vehicle itself. But for the most intense experience you can turn off the stabilization system and steer the ArcaBoard with your body.

For an extra $4,500 you're supposed to be able to get an accessory that cuts the charge time to 35-minutes and should come standard because none of your friends are going to hang around for six hours waiting for their turn. "It didn't even look fun when you were doing it," I imagine them saying before getting in their car and backing over your mailbox.

Keep going for a video and try not to laugh when the narrator calls the thing only slightly larger than a skateboard. Also, they never actually let you hear the thing, so it probably sounds like a tornado.

Thanks again to my buddy D.j., who, for two tips in a row, gets to ride shotgun when we hit up Taco Bell later.

  • Hey bro, you know what's gonna get you, like, so much pussy? Riding around on a giant, flying green bar of soap for a combined 20 minutes in a 24 hour period!

  • palpable ovaltine

Did he really make the board out of plywood? Why wouldn't you use aluminum or some kind of plastic to have a stronger and lighter "revolution in motion"?

  • Bling Nye

That's the best part. Fucking plywood. It's the secret the aerospace industry doesn't want the common people to know about.

  • Guys, he's dreaming dreams you wouldn't even let your minds imagine.

  • Also for those playing the ArcaBoard drinking game, they said "dreams" 17 times.

  • GeneralDisorder

Awe crap... gonna need a stomach pump.

  • Tyguy

This whole "hover board" crap is premature ejaculation. Do something worth ANYTHING, with this technology.

  • GeneralDisorder

Delivery drones are already in the works. So someone's on it.

  • Tyguy

Delivery hover drones? Could you explain a bit more?

  • GeneralDisorder

Go to google... type "amazon delivery drone". Search.

Or the story was posted on Geekology about the delivery drones that Amazon is working on.

"This technology" is just small fans that work as helicopter rotors and electric motors that have enough power to do the job. The fact that it's board shaped and can lift a human is inconsequential to development.

  • Tyguy

    I see

  • EmperorXenol

If only they had spent as much money on the actual board as they had on the video production...

  • GeneralDisorder

A flight to Nevada isn't that expensive.

  • archer923

Hammy from over the hedge wants his cookie back.

  • Deksam

Just do yourself a favour and skip to 1:40 and turn off the sound.

  • GeneralDisorder

That should be the title of the video.

  • John Samuel αΩ

Fast forward to 1:50 to see it working. Everything before that is complete shite.

  • Steelwire

I want to ride the "magical Lego brick"!

  • WhiteEagle2

They did a good job at making it look very ugly.

  • TheQiwiMan

    Most. Pretentious. Video. Ever.
