Whoa: Red-Hot Ball Of Nickel Melting A Block Of Foam

August 3, 2015

This is a video of a red-hot ball of nickel melting a block of floral foam. For those of you who didn't take a floral design course in college with your then-girlfriend, floral foam is a block of green absorbent foam you use to make flower arrangements so the cut stems can still receive water and prevent the blooms from wilting. And now you know what happens when you put a red-hot ball of nickel on top! I got a solid B in that class by the way, and only graduated a year and half late.

Hit the jump for the video.

Thanks to Lukas, who can expect to receive a 5% off an Edible Arrangement coupon for the tip.

Reminds me of a particularly virulent trip to Tijuana.

This seems to also reflect the years of sun damage to the skin...including the falling apart bit.

  • That Ball of Nickel has seen some shit!

  • More like it was cooked. Still interesting though, I'm curious why every corner of the foam block was yellow and nearly uniform in width, while the rest of the block was char black.

Heat distribution through the foam cells was all uniform due to the ball being placed in the center. It was essentially cooked from the center outward.
