To honor their friend and local hero, members of the community of Río Piedras, Puerto Rico dressed deceased boxer Renato García up as the Green Lantern and propped him up in a standing position at his wake. Personally, I want to be posed mid-cartwheel at my wake.
He was always very helpful. He never left anyone wanting. Never say no. You beckoned and he was always there. ...I was going to a regular funeral for him, but the neighbors and the community had this idea. I know he would have liked it.
Lots of mourners, relatives, friends and residents of the village of San José in Río Piedras, wore shirts alluding to the famous character, as a symbol of mourning on the death of Renato, who attributed all attractive qualities and virtues. Neighbors said that when Renato found a Green Lantern costume in the trash can and decided to dress and embody the character, nobody scoffed at him, and were sympathetic when they out found what he did.
I like the Green Hornet costume with Batman utility belt combo. Obviously Renato was so amazing he encompassed MULTIPLE superheroes. I wish I could have known him. I just hope at my funeral the community thinks highly enough of me to do something special, but I've got the sneaking feeling it's going to be one of those situations where my body is never actually recovered. I've made a lot of enemies.
Keep going for one more shot of two boys eying their first dead body in real life.
Thanks to my buddy Clark, who doesn't know it yet but is going to be dressed up and posed as Wonder Woman flying her invisible jet when he dies.
