Groot Saves Christmas: A Groot Christmas Tree Topper

December 3, 2014

This is the clever Groot head Christmas tree topper designed and made by DeviantARTist witchcraftywolfen using a "CD spool cover, foam, plastic eyes, Crayola Model Magic, pipe cleaners, and acrylic paint." Wow, great job, MacGyver. But can you diffuse THIS BOMB? "That's a wristwatch wrapped around a can of spraypaint." Damn, you're good. I figured you couldn't last seven seasons without being smart.

Keep going for a couple more shots including a VERY colorful work-in-progress collage.

Thanks to Alana, who agrees the best Christmas tree topper has been and always will be a star. No, an angel. NO -- A SKULL.

Great idea! I liked it so much I tried it myself. https://plus.google.com/pho...

how did you do the eyes? I'm going to buy a cheap mask and do similar, but those eyes make the piece.

  • Debra Daun

I am just going to have to try this now!

My late husband and I once did a Christmas spear: he made a stand for a spear, we topped it with a resin skull he had named Lloyd, and wrapped the whole thing in Christmas lights. It was Lloyd the Christmas Spear, unclimbable by cats.

    Thanks for the feature! :)

  • Eric Deroche

How much I would love one please feel free to email me ericderoche@procompsolutions.net

Sorry, I don't have the licencing to sell one -- but you can buy a Groot mask, maybe that would work!

  • Frédéric Purenne

Looking at the rest of his collection around, I feel he has a weak spot for black beady eyes.

  • Jenness

Another thing to put on my list of "Cool but who the hell has time for this?"

    p.s. I want a skull topper too.
