A pair of two-year old chimpanzees went to watch Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes last weekend at a movie theater in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Heck yeah, Myrtle Beach! I think I lost my virginity there.
Vali and Sugrive, who live at the Myrtle Beach Safari, bought their own tickets for the show and paid for their own snacks, popcorn and juice.
During the film, the two chimps were seen responding just like the humans surrounding them, with Sugriva turning away during a dramatic scene and Vali clenching his companion's hand.
The chimps watched the film with some 1,000 other cinema-goers at the IMAX screen in the cinema complex - although not everybody was too comfortable having them present.
Dr Antle said: 'A couple of people said very clearly "are you sure they should watch this movie, won't they learn to take over the world?"
'There were several people actually concerned about that.'
When reached for comment, the people who were concerned with the chimps learning to take over the world by watching this movie could not be reached. Presumably because they're too stupid to live and finally died after cheating death all these years.
Keep going for a video news report, all of which was presumably orchestrated by 20th Century Fox for the free publicity.
Thanks to Lindby and Conner, who agree there's no shame in wearing a diaper to the movies so you don't have to take bathroom breaks.
