Coming Soon To A Fair Near You: Deep Fried Tarantulas

deep-fried-tarantula.jpg

This is a deep fried tarantula served up by the The Bug Chef (aka David George Gordon), a man who travels around cooking bugs and speaking about the benefits of eating insects. Now, not to sound too progressive or anything, but I've actually eaten spiders before. IN MY SLEEP. They were all unintentional. Plus one time I woke up in the middle of the night and felt something weird in my boxers. You know what it was? "A spider?!" No, it was a bird feather, but I THOUGHT it was a spider. I was seriously *this close* to smacking my pecker with a shoe.

Thanks to The Brett, who tried to tell me the deep-fried Oreos at the county fair are really the store brand versions. I feel robbed!

I know about the huge potential benefits of eating insects and I'm up for it, if someone could only find a way to make them into a burger or something less nightmare inducing.

Nope. You could probably persuade me to try a leg, but the body? One half is like a giant pus boil, and the other half is probably like a pus boil filled with little crunchy bits. Just the thought of it makes me want to puke.

Took the words right out of my mouth.

... Animal rights? PETA? I mean, I could care less about anything besides myself, but spiders kill insects & that's why we should have as many of them as possible, so stop killing them!

lol yeah, i had a pet tarantula ... and tarantulas are probably more common then cows as pets, oddly enough. It's sort of like eating a hamster or something. I couldn't imagine eating this. Poor Sophonsiba (her name was Sophonsiba). Always greeted me when I came with her crickets :'-(

Dude, what ever happened to the tag "delicious and nutritious"? You have to do it like the original GW. Also, you are forgetting to sneak in links to old articles like this one: http://geekologie.com/2010/10/...

  • Oh god, there really is a new GW? It's like green lantern? They just keep cycling new ones in and no one cares until he's openly gay?

I have no problems eating meat and hunting, but this bums me out for some reason.

    would you say it.......bugs you?
